If you’re working with scaffold towers, do you know the best way to put up, take down and move a tower without risking injury to yourself or your co-workers? Look how quickly things can go wrong. Were you aware that there’s training you can get, specifically for scaffold towers?
The PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers Manufacturers Association) training course is the industry standard for scaffold towers. Founded in 1974 PASMA is the recognised authority for training. PASMA advances safety, standards and best practice across a wide range of sectors and represents PASMA members’ interests in the UK and across the globe.
The PASMA course trains you or your workers to use either the 3T or advanced guardrail, (AGR) assembly system.
3T: 3T stands for ‘Through the Trap Door’ which describes assembly using the trap door located on the platform to add or remove any guard rails above. Using 3T protects the operator from standing on an unprotected platform.
AGR: AGR stands for ‘Advanced Guardrails’. There are two types of AGR system, Integral and Additional. In the Integral system AGR form part of the structure and remain in the same position until the tower is dismantled. The Additional system uses an extra component to the tower to deploy or recover a guardrail.
Both 3T and AGR Tower methods are used for protection when assembling towers and both methods are recommended by PASMA and the HSE to reduce falls. The PASMA course meets Working at Height Regulations, protecting your health and safety if you’re working at height and is available across the UK at PASMA Registered Training Centres.
