When a customer contacted us recently asking for emergency pest control services, we were, as always, ready to help solve the problem. Staff from a Chelmsford bar and restaurant, which had scaffolding erected around its façade while undergoing a refit, explained that they’d discovered what they thought was a wasps nest on the scaffolding. After taking some details, our Account Manager consulted with experts who confirmed that because of the time of year and the way the insects were clustered on the scaffolding, it was in fact a swarm of honey bees that had come to rest there, forming a dense clump to protect the queen.
Knowing that these valuable pollinators are under threat, we were able to make contact with a local beekeeper who attended our customer’s property on the same day, collected the swarm and relocated it safely to one of his vacant hives for a modest fee.
A happy conclusion for the eatery, and for the swarm, thanks to the beekeeper and our experienced and resourceful Nationwide Hire Account Manager who enjoys going ‘the extra mile’ for customers.
