Nationwide Hire’s 5-a-side charity football tournament held at the Goals Soccer Centre in Portsmouth on Saturday 12 May raised a grand total of £2,042.80 for Fareham youth mental health charity The Moving On Project.

Around 100 people turned out for the day, with 8 teams taking part including Nationwide Hire’s own two – Momentum FFC and Blue Moon Rising. The remaining six teams were Pompey Walking FC (Dedicated Pompey Fans), ICEE United (ICEE Managed Services), Living the Dream, (Comserv UK), Real Design (Total Design Shopfitting Services), PVC (PVC Building Supplies) and Hard at it Legends (Hardware Associates). Cup Winners were Momentum FFC (Nationwide Hire), with runners up Living the Dream (Comserve UK). Plate Winners were Hard at it Legends (Hardware Associates) with runners up Blue Moon Rising (Nationwide Hire).

Chelsea Shrimpton, Office Administrator at the Moving On Project said: “A huge thank you to everyone at Nationwide Hire for all their hard work arranging such a wonderful day at Goals Portsmouth for the Charity Shield football tournament. A massive thank you to all the players too – and well done!”

Sean Wiggins from Hardware Associates added: “The event was well organised and well attended by the teams’ family and friends and the tournament format was ideal allowing for a plate to be played for.  A great day apart from the weather which didn’t dampen the spirits as each game was keenly fought for!”

Brett Cummings at Total Design Shopfitting Services added: “I am honoured to have taken part in the Nationwide Charity Shield. My team and I had a good day and we were all pleased to raise money for such a great cause which gives the right support to young individuals. The day was very well planned and there was plenty to do for all ages. I will definitely be attending the next event!”

Lee Fisher is HR and Training Manager at leading emergency hire firm Nationwide Hire and comments: “We’re very grateful for everyone who played, all our friends, family and colleagues who came along, bought raffle tickets and all the local businesses who kindly donated so many great raffle prizes. We were thrilled to raise over £2,000 in a single afternoon. This will help us to reach our target of £10,000 by August, to support the work that the Moving On Project does and make a difference to young people locally.”
